Using Texas and some attractions from the city of San Antonio paired with some common items used in dispatching and intertwining it all together.

  • What inspired your design? And how does it fit the criteria?

This design submission was inspired by the connection between dispatch, the community and those who protect it. Dispatchers are often that unseen connection (bridge) between someone’s worst day and the help that is responding to them. That idea is reflected in the River Walk at the center of the design. I chose to place the perspective of the design in the seat of a River Walk boat, moving towards the bridge and the city. This, to me, symbolizes the role of dispatchers in guiding situations forward and being able to navigate uncertainty and helping people safely reach their “destination.”

I’ve also included San Antonio’s landmarks throughout the image to honor the history of the host city. The Tower of the Americas is shown transmitting radio waves, representing the communication signals and networks that make our jobs possible. The skyline and the Alamo highlight the rich history and identity of San Antonio while the River Walk is represented as being the heart of the city that serves as the main connecter for its citizens. I also included the star of Texas at the front of the river boat to celebrate Texas as well. My vision for the image to seem vintage was chosen to create a timeless look that feels both meaningful and memorable for the conference attendees. Almost like a souvenir! It celebrates all that San Antonio stands for all while symbolizing the mission of APCO and their dedication to emergency communications professional everywhere.
